maxon motor needed a new software platform to replace an existing workplace with local data storage, which would be able to produce workpieces based on production information from a central product database. The requirement was to create and commission the new application software under strict time constraints using agile methods.
maxon motor AG produces its high-quality products in the area of drive technology on automated workbenches. bbv was engaged to develop a universal software platform for new workbenches and to use these in the first application to separate and debur axles.
The existing local workbench was replaced by a networked application that provided access to a central product database. The .NET application acts as the interface here between the database and softPLC. This solution ensures that all data is consistent from design office to production and therefore that less waste is produced.
