As part of the Bologna reform, the Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil (HSR) adapted its planning and budgeting process to the new requirements so that students can compile their own modular course units themselves. A client/server model with MS SQL and .NET was used as the architecture for the development.
The HSR needed a new, integrated tool for planning and budgeting, which allows all participants to create, access and supplement information on course units. All planning data is managed centrally.
The interface was designed with the HSR with the aim of ensuring ease of use for all users. Reports can be exported as Excel workbooks. The user interface is based on the .NET Framework 1.1, Infragistics DataGrid and uses ADO.NET for synchronising data with the database (Microsoft SQL Server 2000). The tool has increased administration efficiency enormously for the HSR and significantly improved planning quality.
