Architecture and functions of the Swiss LCDM Hub

The Swiss LCDM Hub is characterised by its modular structure and includes a variety of components that enable flexible and scalable data integration. The key elements include:

  • Adaptors: These connect the Swiss LCDM Hub with various source and target systems, including ERP systems, hospital information systems (HIS), IoT platforms and building management systems.
  • Data transformation tools: These tools are used to prepare the data to meet consumer needs, before it is integrated into the target systems.
  • Quality Control Centre (QCC): The QCC allows the data quality to be visualised and edited manually or automatically and approved for further processing.
  • Automatic validation and cleansing: All data is continuously validated and cleansed to minimise errors and guarantee data integrity.
  • Data migration: The adaptors can be launched as a service autonomously or in a workflow either manually or with a scheduler.

The platform is designed to manage data from different industries and application areas. This includes integration of machine data into ERP systems, management of BIM data for facility management or integration of geoinformation systems with digital portals. The Swiss LCDM Hub guarantees that all data processes operate efficiently and reliably, with transparent information being available at all times for further processing.

Swiss LCDM Hub as a BIM2FM platform

The University Hospital of Bern, the Inselspital, is already using the Swiss LCDM Hub as a BIM2FM solution. The hospital uses the platform to transfer planning data to the operational target systems at the right time and in the right quality for the relevant process. The key success factor is the possibility for users to actively control the selection, transformation and conversion of data during transfer.

Manufacturing industry

A serious problem facing the manufacturing industry is the lack of networking between production machines and ERP systems. The isolation of the systems makes it difficult to effectively monitor and analyse production processes, which in turn leads to service interruptions. The Swiss LCDM Hub allows processes to be easily managed across systems and integrated seamlessly into the shop floor (PPS) and machines. Thanks to optimised data management, downtimes are significantly reduced, while productivity increases at the same time.

Construction

The integration and management of data plays a key role in construction, especially when it comes to managing Building Information Model (BIM) data. The Swiss LCDM Hub enables seamless integration of this data into facility management systems, common data environments and other relevant platforms and systems. All (project) participants can therefore access up-to-date and consolidated information at all times. This improves transparency and efficiency in construction projects, simplifies compliance with regulations and optimises processes from initial design to operation of buildings.

Develop software yourself or buy it off the shelf– is this question still justified?

Regardless of how unusual customer requests and visions are: Software can be developed and used today in such a way that it suits everywhere. There are many solutions. But the question remains: “Should software be developed individually or does a standard solution suit the company’s business processes?” This question is derived from the strategy, says bbv expert Michael Maurer as he explains the advantages and disadvantages of both options.
