The software components developed by bbv resulted in significantly increased testing efficiency at ABB thanks to automated test planning, implementation and documentation. This also had a positive impact on employee motivation.
ABB is a global leader in energy and automation technology. The complex systems consist of master computers, a communication network and up to several hundred Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), which have to be tested intensively prior to commissioning.
In order to optimise the test processes, bbv was engaged to develop a test manager suite to enable efficient test planning, expenditure assessment and automated test preparation. bbv used a test case catalogue for this purpose as well as type identification of all assemblies and components. The new tool automates the entire test preparation based on test planning and enables flexible reporting.
